FinishReel
Terms of Service
1. What FinishReel does
FinishReel takes video of a grappling match that you upload and automatically produces short highlight reels from it. The service is currently built for Brazilian jiu-jitsu and related grappling disciplines.
2. Who can use it
You must be at least 18 years old to use FinishReel.
FinishReel is currently available only to users in the United States.
During our beta period, footage containing any person under the age of 18 may not be uploaded. This restriction is described in section 6.
3. Agreeing to these terms
By uploading video to FinishReel you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the service.
4. Your footage — rights and responsibility
When you upload video, you confirm that:
- You own the footage, or you have permission from whoever does to upload it and to have it processed
- You have the right to allow the people appearing in the video to be shown in the reel we produce
- Uploading it doesn't break any agreement you have with a tournament organiser, event promoter, venue, gym, or anyone else
- The footage doesn't contain anything unlawful
You are responsible for the footage you upload. We don't verify ownership. If you upload something you don't have the right to upload, you agree to indemnify us for any claim that results.
Tournament footage specifically: many event organisers hold recording and broadcast rights over matches at their events. Uploading that footage without permission may infringe their copyright. Check before uploading footage from a competition you didn't record yourself.
5. Licence you grant us
So that we can actually provide the service, you grant FinishReel a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, reproduce, process, analyse, modify, and create derivative works from the video you upload — solely for the purpose of producing your reels and operating the service.
A highlight reel is legally a derivative work of your footage, so this licence is what permits us to make one. It is limited to running the service. It does not permit us to publish, sell, license, or otherwise exploit your footage or your reels, and it ends when your content is deleted.
6. Beta restrictions
While FinishReel is in beta:
- The service is for adult competitors only
- You may not upload footage containing any person under the age of 18
- If we become aware that uploaded footage contains a minor, we will delete that footage and all associated data immediately
7. What we do with your footage
We process it to make your reels.
- We don't publish your video or your reels anywhere
- We don't sell or license them
- We don't share them with anyone except the service providers listed in the Privacy Policy who help us run the service
- We don't use your footage to train artificial intelligence models
- We may use your footage to check and improve the quality of the service only if you explicitly opt in. It is off by default.
8. Reels you download
Once you download a reel, it's yours.
We are not responsible for what happens after you download a reel. That includes, without limitation: how the reel performs on any platform; whether any platform accepts, rejects, demonetises, restricts, or removes it; any claim made by anyone about the footage or the people in it; any consequence of you sharing it.
You use and distribute your reels at your own risk.
9. What we don't promise
FinishReel is automated. It uses software to decide which moments of a match are worth including, and it will sometimes get that wrong.
- We don't promise the reels will be good, complete, or accurate
- We don't promise the service will always be available or free of faults
- We don't promise any particular processing time
- We don't promise your reel will qualify for monetisation on any platform
Where a reel isn't right, you can tell us and adjust it yourself using the tools in the app.
10. Acceptable use
Don't:
- Upload footage you don't have the right to upload
- Upload footage containing anyone under 18 during the beta period
- Upload anything unlawful, or anything depicting abuse or non-consensual content
- Attempt to overload, probe, reverse-engineer, or interfere with the service
- Use automated tools to submit uploads at volume
- Resell access to the service without our written agreement
We may refuse or remove any upload, and suspend access, at our discretion.
11. Copyright complaints (DMCA)
If you believe material on FinishReel infringes your copyright, send a notice to our designated agent:
DMCA Agent — FinishReel / Serene Innovations LLC
Email: dmca@finishreel.com
Address: 3742 North Federal Highway #1035, Lighthouse Point, FL 33064
Your notice must include:
- A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or someone authorised to act for them
- Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed
- Identification of the material claimed to be infringing, with enough detail for us to locate it — the reference code from the reel is the fastest way
- Your contact information
- A statement that you have a good faith belief the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and that you are authorised to act on behalf of the copyright owner
We will respond expeditiously to remove or disable access to material that is the subject of a valid notice. Counter-notices may be submitted to the same address by users who believe material was removed in error.
12. Repeat infringer policy
We maintain a record of valid copyright infringement notices received against uploads. Where a user is the subject of repeated valid notices, we will terminate their access under appropriate circumstances. This policy is enforced in a manner consistent with our obligations under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.
13. Limits on the service
We apply limits on file size, video length, and how many uploads can be submitted in a day. These change as the service grows.
14. Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for anything arising out of your use of FinishReel is limited to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or one hundred United States dollars, whichever is greater.
We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses, including lost income, lost opportunities, or reputational harm.
15. Arbitration and class action waiver
PLEASE READ THIS SECTION CAREFULLY. IT AFFECTS YOUR LEGAL RIGHTS.
AGREEMENT TO ARBITRATE. ANY DISPUTE, CLAIM, OR CONTROVERSY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF FINISHREEL SHALL BE RESOLVED BY BINDING INDIVIDUAL ARBITRATION, AND NOT IN COURT, EXCEPT THAT EITHER PARTY MAY BRING AN INDIVIDUAL CLAIM IN SMALL CLAIMS COURT.
CLASS ACTION WAIVER. YOU AND FINISHREEL AGREE THAT EACH MAY BRING CLAIMS AGAINST THE OTHER ONLY IN AN INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY, AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY PURPORTED CLASS, COLLECTIVE, OR REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING.
JURY TRIAL WAIVER. YOU AND FINISHREEL WAIVE ANY RIGHT TO A JURY TRIAL.
Arbitration shall be administered by JAMS under its Comprehensive Arbitration Rules and Procedures, and shall take place in Broward County, Florida, or by remote proceeding.
16. Governing law and venue
These terms shall be governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. For any dispute not subject to arbitration, the parties agree that the exclusive venue shall be the state and federal courts located in Broward County, Florida, and each party consents to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
17. Changes
We may update these terms. If we make a material change we'll say so in the app. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the updated terms.
18. Ending access
You can stop using FinishReel at any time. We may suspend or end access if these terms are breached.
